Bureau issues climate outlooks for June to August 2016

26/05/2016

The Bureau of Meteorology today issued its monthly and seasonal climate outlooks for June to August 2016.

Above-average rainfall is likely across large parts of mainland Ausralia.

Warmer-than-average days are likely for the tropical north and parts of southeast Australia however it will be cooler in the southern mainland.

The current outlook reflects the combination of increasing odds for La Niña and a negative Indian Ocean Dipole. It also reflects very warm sea surface temperatures surrounding northern and eastern Australia.

These climate influences favour rainfall.

Monthly and seasonal Climate Outlooks, including the Climate and Water Outlook video summary, for June to August 2016 are now available on the Bureau's website.
