Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle to impact Norfolk Island today

Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle, a Category 2 system, remains well off the Queensland coast this afternoon and is around 1240km from Coolangatta and about 195 km to the west north-west of Norfolk Island.
It is moving south-east at 20 km/hour, capable of producing destructive winds up to 140 km/hour, heavy rain and damaging and dangerous surf today.
A Hazardous Surf Warning is current for south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales for easterly swells.
The cyclone is forecast to track near Norfolk Island this evening, bringing destructive winds, heavy rain, very heavy surf and swell, and abnormally high tides. A Tropical Cyclone Warning is current for Norfolk Island.
Conditions will ease during Sunday as the weakening cyclone moves further south-east, away from Norfolk Island and towards New Zealand.
Warnings will continue to be updated every 3 hours tonight as the cyclone crosses over Norfolk Island.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy
Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy is a Category 3 system, located approximately 475 km south of Christmas Island.
This cyclone poses no threat to Western Australia or offshore territories. Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy is forecast to continue moving westward this weekend and into early next week.

Queensland conditions
High to Extreme fire danger is forecast for areas across southern and central Queensland this weekend as temperatures increase.
A heatwave warning is current for parts of south-eastern and central Queensland, with temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average.
Humidity is expected to be much lower than last week's conditions, and cooler conditions are forecast from Monday and Tuesday.
