Bureau issues Climate Outlook for March to May 2015
26/02/2015
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued its monthly and seasonal climate outlooks for March to May 2015.
The outlook for the next three months indicates:
- Likely to be wetter than normal over central parts of Western Australia and central Australia.
- Warmer than normal days and nights likely over much of the country, particularly the southeast.
- Climate influences include warmer than normal sea surface temperatures in the western tropical Pacific Ocean and to the south and west of Australia.
Climate Outlooks indicate likely temperature and rainfall trends over monthly or seasonal timescales, and are driven by large-scale shifts in the climate such as El Niño or La Niña events. By contrast, weather forecasts are currently produced out to seven days, and are used in short-term planning.
