Wet and windy conditions leading up to ANZAC Dawn Service
24/04/2015
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting severe weather across southern areas of South Australia for today and overnight into Saturday morning.
In Adelaide the worst of the weather, including heavy rain, damaging winds and possible thunderstorms are forecast to have cleared in time for the ANZAC Dawn Service, although the public should still rug up as it will be cold and windy.
The Bureau has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds across the southern agricultural areas of the state.
Those participating in overnight Anzac vigils need to prepare for challenging weather conditions, and should monitor the Bureau's weather forecasts and warnings closely.
The weather is being caused by vigorous cold fronts associated with an intense low pressure system which is being pushed up from the southwest. Significant rainfall of up to 50mm is forecast, with severe wind gusts likely.
There is the possibility of flash flooding due to short bursts of heavy rain, and the public are reminded to heed the advice of State Emergency Services.
