Cold with potential rain - NSW and ACT weather update

07/06/2021

Much of NSW and the ACT will experience a significant drop in temperatures over coming days.

It is possible there will be snow falls across a number of locations in NSW, beyond the Alpine regions, beginning in southern areas on Tuesday night and extending north.

Strong and gusty winds are likely to begin in some areas from Tuesday.

Snow and ice may lead to dangerous driving conditions.

Storms may occur around coastal areas, including Sydney, on Tuesday and small hail is possible.

There is a risk of heavy rain in the south-east later in the week, and people in these areas should watch for updates.

The conditions are the result of a strong cold front that will cross much of NSW on Tuesday with a very cold pool of air moving into the west, then northeast of the state.

An associated surface low is expected to develop on Tuesday somewhere over southern to eastern NSW or Victoria, before intensifying on Wednesday and Thursday.
