AUDIO NEWS RELEASE: Warning issued for Abnormally High Tides

Bureau of Meteorology Meteorologist, Alex Melitsis, discusses:

- A Severe Weather Warning for Abnormally High Tides has been issued.

- The abnormally high tides are being primarily generated by very high standard (astronomical) tides at this time of year; however, low air pressure and higher-than-normal sea levels will result in tides about 40 to 50 cm higher than the standard astronomical tide.

- Tasmania also expecting blustery conditions across the weekend and snow to around 400 metres.

- Reminder to monitor any severe weather warnings.
