Humidity dropping across the Top End later this week, as southern temps flip flop

10/08/2021

Foggy mornings have continued over parts of the Top End, caused by very light winds, clear skies and a more humid environment.

Conditions are conducive for fog again across parts of the Top End on Wednesday morning. Fog forecasts, as shown in the image, are available here, (select 'fog' from the left-side menu under 'storms, snow, fog, frost').

Temperatures will now warm up across the Territory, but for the south a cool change is not far behind.

Alice Springs is forecast to reach 28°C on Tuesday and Wednesday then drop to a high of 21°C on Thursday and Friday.

These changes in temperatures are being influenced from a trough from Western Australia moving east across central and southern NT and a ridge building across central Australia.

As the cool, dry air moves north Friday will be less humid in Darwin, but the return of drier conditions will also bring elevated fire dangers to the Top End from Thursday.
