Heavy rainfall forecast for Wilsons River catchment on Monday night

28/03/2022

Issued at 7:30pm AEDT on Monday 28 March 2022

Heavy rainfall is forecast across the Wilsons River catchment from late Monday into Tuesday and Wednesday, which may cause moderate to major flooding from early Tuesday at Lismore. Forecast rainfall has the potential for flood levels to reach close to the Lismore levee height by Tuesday afternoon.

A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for the Northern Rivers and parts of the Mid North Coast and Northern Tablelands Forecast District.

Since catchments are now saturated, there will be an increased risk of dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding and even landslides during this event.

The Bureau is recommending communities stay up to date with the latest Bureau warnings through the Bureau's website and BOM Weather app and follow the advice of emergency services.
